The project foresees a daily production of up to 25 thousand m\u00b3 of biomethane by Cocal, from vinasse, straw and filter cake, residues from sugarcane processing. The construction works of the first independent gas pipeline, which will demand R$ 180 million in investments in total, are already underway. Biomethane is expected to start being distributed to consumers as of July 2022.&nbsp;<br>\n<br>\nThe idea is to encourage production and facilitate access to bioenergy, helping to increase the competitiveness of the industrial and service sector \u2013 upon a successful outcome of the experience in the Northwest of S\u00e3o Paulo, the model could be replicated in other regions. As it is fuel from a renewable source with low environmental impact, biomethane presents itself to the market as a sustainable alternative, in addition to being more economically viable.
