The Vallourec Florestal Unit currently produces around 260 thousand tons of charcoal per year, in increasingly technological and sustainable processes. It has a total area of 164,400 hectares, divided between planting sites and biodiversity conservation areas, in addition to strong activities to support and develop the communities in its surroundings.

The charcoal used by the company in the manufacture of tubes that serve the Oil and Gas, Energy and Industry segments comes from the eucalyptus forests of the Vallourec Florestal Unit and contributes positively to the Group’s CO2 balance, as the forests sequester of carbon dioxide during its growth through photosynthesis.

The planting and management of forests has been pioneering in Minas Gerais since 1969, supported by a nursery with a production capacity of up to 8.5 million seedlings per year.
