The products and services will be used in the development of the Brazilian pre-salt and post-salt region, in assets located in the fields of Polvo, Tubarão Martelo, Frade, Wahoo, and Albacora Leste, in the maritime region near the states of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo.

This is one of Vallourec’s main OCTG contracts in Brazil, which will deliver production with high national content, reinforcing Vallourec’s and PRIO’s commitment to the development of local supply chains and services and the Brazilian oil exploration and production industry.

Sustainable Partnership

The commercial partnership exists since late 2021 and has been strengthened by the companies’ shared values, such as investment in innovation, entrepreneurship, and new practices within the global oil industry.

In addition to technical and commercial exchanges, both companies seek to establish a value proposition that goes along with the goods and services provided, aligned with innovation and the business’ sustainability agenda,” emphasizes Patrícia Charbel, Commercial Manager of OCTG, Products, and Services at Vallourec.

Low Carbon Footprint

Following Vallourec’s decarbonization agenda, which aims to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 25% until 2025 and by 30% until 2030, in this contract, Vallourec will supply tubes produced with the lowest carbon footprint in the market.

Among the actions taken for more sustainable solutions, Vallourec uses biomass charcoal from Brazilian forests for pig iron production, which reduces CO2 emissions. Additionally, the Company adopts initiatives in its production aimed at reducing carbon emissions, such as developing new industrial routes, using green electricity, additional methane reduction, using hydrogen in the production process and implementing carbon capture pilot projects.

As a result of these actions, Vallourec has the lowest carbon footprint in the market – the Company’s steel production emits 30% less CO2 compared to the steel industry average, and compared to tube manufacturers, the carbon footprint is 10% lower.
